Pamper Yourself For Free - Banana & Honey Face Mask

Following on from my 'pamper yourself for less than £5' post I thought I'd do a little post on pampering yourself for free! I'm definitely a creature of comfort and I love to indulge myself so I found this little beauty treatment a lot of fun! And everything can be found in your kitchen so you (technically) don't need to spend a penny!

Banana and Honey Face Mask.
Making your own banana face mask is easy, inexpensive and fun!

Ingredients:
1 ripe banana
1tbsp natural honey
4tbsp ground oats
Water

Method:
1. Mash the banana until it has a smooth texture.
Banana is a natural moisturiser that helps the skin rebuild its own moisture level.

2. Add the natural honey.
Honey has been used as a natural remedy for centuries for a variety of ailments. It is known to reduce inflammation and swelling in wounds and can kill germs.

3. Stir in the ground oats and enough water to give the face mask a creamy consistency.
The oats in the face mask help to exfoliate the skin, removing dirt and dead skin cells.

4. Apply the banana mask evenly to your face.

5. Relax for 15 to 20 minutes before rinsing the mask off with warm water.

Enjoy!

Pamper Yourself For Less Than £5

I love a good pamper.
Especially after the gym on a Friday night to mark the end of the week and to get refreshed for the weekend.

You don't have to spend a fortune either to put a basic pampering kit together so yesterday lunchtime, armed with my last £5 in the world, I challenged myself to find the essential beauty basics on a very limited budget.

This is what I decided on:

Radox Moisture Soak - 99p; Mudd Sea Mask - £1.01;
Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Deep Conditioner - 99p; Coconut & Shea Butter Body Butter - £1
All from Superdrug.

I also treated myself to an MUA lipstick in shade 4 - £1.

It looks shockingly pink in the tube but it is actually very sheer and wearable. It applies like a dream and is incredibly creamy and moisturising.

This brings the grand total to...£4.99!

Clearly they are not the most luxurious items available but I just wanted to show that you can buy everything you need for a relaxing makeshift spa evening without breaking the bank!

Samples and travel sized items are a great buy if you are looking to try something new or you are simply on a tight budget.

I hope you all have a lovely Friday night; I'm off to soak in a hot Radox bath while my face and hair masks do their work!

Living On A Budget

Budget
-n
A restriction on expenditure
The total amount of money allocated for a specific purpose during a specified period

I've seen quite a few bloggers going on a total spending ban for at least a month and while that is such a good idea, I'm not going to kid myself and pretend I can do it to because when it comes to spending money I just can't stop myself. So rather than torturing myself, setting myself up to fail and just plain cheating, as of next payday I am setting myself up an official budget to live off on a weekly basis.

Far too many times I have wanted something and convinced myself to buy it as a 'treat', or to cheer myself up or because I just can't live without it! In reality, a treat should be a reward for an achievement, a good cuddle can cheer me up, and if I've lived without something for this long it won't hurt to do without it, or at least save up for it.

Step 1:
Subscribe to a magazine.

Out of three glossies and numerous gossip magazines I only every thoroughly read Cosmopolitan and subscribing to it for £15 makes a lot more sense than spending £3.50 on it each month.

Step 2:
Weekly allowance.

At the moment I seem to able to walk into Boots and spend £50 without even thinking about it, then buy clothes, shoes, food etc on top of that, so my weekly spending is getting completely out of hand. I need to learn to be stricter with myself - maybe this will mean taking a certain amount of cash out of the bank at the start of the week and leaving my card at home when I'm at work - lunch break shopping is a nasty habit!

Step 3:
Buy only what I need.

I do class makeup as a 'need' however it has to fall into the weekly allowance so will probably be bought at the end of the week after food bits, toiletries etc.

Luckily my new job is close to where I live so I am able to walk to work every day - this alone is going to save me £80-£100 a month in petrol money so that can go straight into savings and hopefully I won't miss it as I never had it to spend anyway.

This is the year my boyfriend and I are hoping to buy a house so I really need to stick to my budget and save as much money as possible!

Wish me luck! Is anyone else budgeting or saving up for anything? If so I would love some encouragement and support!
