New Year's Eve

Unfortunatley, my boyfriend and I are too ill go to out tonight...I'm pretty gutted about that as I love New Year, but I just feel rotten at the moment! This is what I would have been wearing, anyway.

Feather skirt and glittery heels both from ASOS.

There's a takeaway cheese pizza with my name on it coming later, so it's not all bad I suppose.
Have a great New Year!

Nail Art

So today I've not been at work, so I spent a lot of the morning browsing nail art tumblrs. I am a self confessed nail biter, but I wear falsies a lot because I love painting my nails - I'm working on growing them just a little bit so I can get gel nails.
These are some of my favourites from fuck yeah nail art!

So this afternoon, with a new set of nails, I decided to make my own nail art. It's very basic, but I think it's quite pretty.
The nails I use are Broadway Real Life Nails for Petite fingers in Short length becuase I have teeny tiny fingers it seems! I also need to keep the short so I can take my contact lenses out.

I don't know if you can see from this photo, but as my nails have started to grow a bit, the white tip show up underneath the falsies, which is mainly why I want to paint them a bit more. When my nails were really bitten down I could just leave them as they were.

So, I started off by painting my nails in Paddington Street by Nails Inc, which is a lovely dark red colour. Excuse my mesy nails, I didn't clean them up before I took the photo, oops.

Now for the fun part...nail gems! I told you it was basic! These are from Girls With Attitude in Boots for £3. You get a sheet of about 50 or so gems in two sizes that stick straight to the nails. I used tweezers to pick the off the sheet and place them, and coated them in clear polish just to make sure they stick.

And...ta da!

Night In

I feel very run down tonight...sitting in a freezing office all day has not done my chest much good!
Its definately a night to snuggle down, watch some DVD's with a nice cup of tea or four, and have some Michael Buble in the background. Ahh that's better.

Best Of ASOS Beauty Sale

Working the days in between Christmas and New Year is a weird experience - its sort of like being in limbo. Everyone is still in a Christmassy mood, and there's hardly any work to do. In a way, it's nice to get back into a rountine, but at the same time I still want to be a home in my jammies watching rubbish telly.
I've been browsing the ASOS sale again, the beauty sale is usually pretty good and I've put loads of things in my basket...sadly I can't afford it all, even at sale prices so i'll probably only go for 1 or 2 lovely items.
These are my top 10 choices so far:

 Beautilicious Travel Set NOW
£4.80
Travel set by Beautilicious. Featuring a strawberry shake bath milk, creamy vanilla cheesecake body lotion and a strawberry shake shower cream in a striped cosmetic bag with a frill trim.
Beautilicious Mini Pamper Set Treats Trio
NOW £2.40
Mini Pamper set by Beautilicious, including: 50g soap, 50ml shower cream and 50ml body butter.
These are the kinds of products I would buy just for the price, and the fact that they look so pretty!
Bourjois ASOS Exclusive Limited Edition Vintage Blusher - Rose Petal
NOW £5.25
Bourjois ASOS Exclusive Limited Edition Vintage Blusher - Peach Glow
NOW £5.25
Bourjois ASOS Exclusive Limited Edition Vintage Blusher - Love at First Sight
NOW £5.25

I am a total Bourjours addict, and these limited edition pots are so beautiful! I doubt I will buy all three as I own a few of their blush pots already, but I am serverely tempted by Rose Petal.
 Eyeko Magic Bronzer Blush
NOW £3.75
Magic bronzer blush by Eyeko. Double baked blended, finely milled powder powder with a brush applicator available in three shades.
Eyeko NEW Fat Balm SPF 15
NOW £3.90
Fat Balm cheek and lip tint by Eyeko. Featuring roll up tinted balm, infused with light reflecting particles, moisturising Jojoba oil and added SPF15.

I've never used Eyeko before, but these products look just adorable, and for the prices, how can I not?!
 Soap & Glory Glam Packed
NOW £14.00
With four quick fixers that deliver gorgeous-guaranteed - this gift box is absolutely…Glam Packed™ A gorgeous cosmetic gift-box.

I can't get enough of Soap and Glory, and if I didn't get loads of their stuff for Christmas I would be purchasing this right now.
 Illamasqua Limited Edition Diamante Lashes
NOW £17.50
Limited edition diamante eyelashes by Illamasqua. Featuring dramatic long length design with diamante embellishment.
I've included these just becuase they look amazing! I always buy fairly cheap lashes because I'm not great at putting them on and usually only get one wear out of them. I definatley couldn't justify a pair for £17.50, however much I want to wear them!

Bliss At Home Oxygen Blast
NOW £34.75
Oxygen Blast kit by Bliss. Featuring a three step treatment for an energizing facial, including the triple oxygen instant energizing mask to brighten dull tried skin, one triple oxygen eye mask and triple oxygen and c energizing face cream.

I've included this as another fantasy buy - if I want a facial, I'll go and book one, but...sometimes don't you just wake up with dull, tired skin? This sounds like a perfect pick me up, and at £34, is actually a bargain as it has been reduced from £58.

I'm going now to whittle down my basket and try not to spend a fortune!

Bread, Pasta and Scrambled Eggs

The last two days have sort of blended into one, and have resulted with me feeling incredibly sluggish, and like I’m coming down with a cold.

Yesterday, my boyfriend and I took a drive over to Worcester town for the day to browse the sales, get some birthday presents for my mum and brother, and to have a nice lunch somewhere. After days of eating sweets and chocolates we were both craving a mountain of carbs so we went to Ask – usually I avoid bread and pasta like the plague, but as it’s Christmas I’ve been treating myself to bread here and there. I ordered garlic bread with cheese to start, thinking it would only be a small portion, but it was the size of a dinner plate! Nom nom, all gone! Then I had pasta with chicken and mushroom in a creamy white wine sauce – I can’t describe how good it was to eat real pasta again! It must be over a year since I last ate real pasta and I was worried it would make me ill like the last time, but I survived!

After we came home from Worcester, we put a DVD on and I did something I never do…I fell asleep in front of the TV. So this morning, after almost 12 hours sleep, I dragged myself out of bed, managed to get myself showered and dressed, but I’ve spent the day just flopped on the sofa, feeling weak and pathetic. I’m so stuffed, but I can’t stop eating, I’ve got a sugar headache, a sore throat, and a day at work to look forward to tomorrow! My lovely boyfriend has been looking after me though, he made me delicious scrambled eggs for breakfast – I’ve never tasted scrambled eggs so good before; he is a kitchen genius!

The recipe is from Jamie Oliver, click here to see it.

Bath Time With...Body Shop

What is it about baths that I love so much? For me, a bath means the chance to go all out and pamper myself stupid. There’s nothing like getting out of a bath all pink, soft and glowing, and feeling like I’ve shed my entire skin and grown a new one! Today I took the chance to try out my new Pink Grapefruit body scrub. Honestly, body scrubs and body butter are the best things to come out of the Body Shop and I just can’t get enough of them.

Body Shop Pink Grapefruit Body Scrub 200ml £12.50

They Say: “A gentle exfoliating scrub that removes dead skin cells whilst invigorating and helping to boost circulation. Leaves your skin feeling soft, smooth and better prepared to absorb moisture.”

I Say: “Body scrubs are a genius invention, and I have so many from different brands, but I have to say, the Body Shop ones are the best. £12.50 may seem pricey, but the tubs are massive and the last for ages. This is the first time I’ve used the Pink Grapefruit flavour; the smell seems a little overpowering in the tub, but when it’s on your body, you’re left with a gentle hint of grapefruit scent. The scrub works wonders at getting rid of dry, dead skin – I felt like I had brand new skin after one use! I can’t recommend this enough.”
Of course, I couldn’t just use the scrub with out following up with...

Body Shop Pink Grapefruit Body Butter 200ml £12.50

They Say: “An intensive, creamy all-over body moisturiser with the zesty pink grapefruit fragrance. It absorbs into the skin easily to condition and soften providing moisturisation for up to 24 hours.”

I Say: “I love this moisturiser. As with the body scrub, a little goes a long way, but if you’re anything like me, you will slather loads on! It absorbs really well, and my legs have not felt this soft for a while – even my knees, which are usually the driest part of my legs – are lovely and soft.”
Both of these pots can be purchased in 50ml for £5, if you’re not sure about splashing out almost £25 for both of them.

Bye Bye Christmas 2010

So, Christmas Day is over for another year, and as usual I’m faced with another Boxing Day spent desperately trying to fit everything new into my bedroom, while stuffing my face with as much cheese, chocolate and mince pies as I can manage – Christmas is the only acceptable time to fall off the diet wagon in such a spectacular fashion. Yesterday mostly consisted of White Chocolate Toblerone, Celebrations, Bagels, Sausage Rolls, Smoked Salmon, Christmas Dinner, Christmas Pudding and Shortbread. Boxing Day is generally known as buffet day in our house – cold meats, quiche, cheese and crackers etc and I love just sitting in my pyjamas, picking at food, organizing my presents and watching Christmas specials on the TV.

The Sale emails are coming in thick and fast today, but I have to say I’m a bit disappointed with them all! I’m not going to pretend I don’t look at the online Sales on Boxing Day; it’s a great time to grab a bargain! The shops I usually make a bee-line for are Topshop, River Island and ASOS, but so far this year, only ASOS have come up trumps!
I am shopping the Sales with the rule: “I’ll only buy it if I wanted it at full price.” Because in past years I’ve ended up buying clothes only because they are cheap, and they end up lost at the bottom of my drawer or sold on eBay. So this year I have a strategy!
The one and only bargain I have purchased so far is a swallow print blouse from the ASOS Sale.

I originally wanted this blouse when Warehouse first brought it out, but at £55 I just couldn’t justify it! When ASOS announced their ‘Up to 50% off’ Sale, I couldn’t wait to get stuck in – and ASOS happen to sell Warehouse so it was the first thing I checked. I got the top for £27! I’m not sure how ASOS can get away with it though, as Warehouse is still selling it for the original RRP.

This afternoon my boyfriend and his parents are coming round – we have been together for almost three years and our parents haven’t met yet, which is quite shocking I suppose, but it’s one of those things that we never got around to arranging.
